Mutation of the Batman Logo

He's the goddamn Batman, so he can be whatever he wants.
It seems, though, that there are only four modifiable parts on the Bat logo: the head, the body, the wing tips on the outside, and those on the bottom. After his head was removed from the original logo, those four points were all that changed. The logo became not only an eerily efficient and clean image, it became a resonating point for the tone of the story it was designed for, which is no real surprise. It just surprises me how many there are and that Superman has only two symbols that i know of: the golden age S, in which the buttress at the top of the S droops down, and the Silver age to the present S, in which the buttress is missing.
so i guess the question to ask is whether or not the superman S was perfected sooner or whether or not Batman's logo was more versatile than the S? Does the goddamn Batman have more range than Big Blue?
