Have I ever told you guys how much I love Russia?

So, the Northern Russian coast is enormous. And the nights are long. Like, 100 days of Night long. And the route through the arctic circle is the quickest way for boats from Eastern Russia to travel to the west. However, these are far from any populated area so building traditional lighthouses would be strategically infeasible, if not impossible.

So, what was the former Soviet Union to do? Build autonomous atomic lighthouses to guide the way, of course!
